Important news!
Update your Sony Xperia T’s operating system for free, and improve your phone’s performance and reliability!
We strongly encourage Videotron customers who use a Sony Xperia T phone to download and install their operating system’s free update, which is now available. This update features Android Jellybean 4.1.2 as well as a few minor improvements, thus enabling the user to get the most out of their Sony Xperia T phone.
All Videotron customers with a Sony Xperia T phone will receive a free update of their operating system.
The software will be sent automatically to your phone via the mobile network. Your phone will not need to be connected to a PC.
Steps to follow
If you have not yet received the notification, you can check for updates by following these steps:
In the phone’s menu, select “Settings”

Go to “About phone”

“Software update”

System

- When the update becomes available for download, a notification will pop up on-screen.
- We strongly recommend that you connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network before downloading the update. This is the fastest and most reliable way to install it.
- Please note that the update may also be carried out for free when your phone is connected to Videotron’s network. All contacts, photos, music, videos and apps that you downloaded before the update will be saved.
Please note that, due to the update’s progressive distribution, it’s normal that not all customers will receive the “free update” notification at the same time. If you still haven’t received a notification, please be patient, as you should receive it in the coming days.
What’s new about this update?
What is “Google Now”?
Here is some information on the new “Google Now” app included with the Jelly Bean update (Android 4.1.2):
Interface:
The Google search bar is always present on a background that updates in real time according to the customer’s geographical location.
You can search for information using tabs represented by icons to check the weather, look up a map or view sports results, which makes it easier to use and allows users to adapt the telephone to their interests.
You can also use a shortcut to get to “Google Now” by pressing the “Home” button on the phone’s homescreen.

Features:
“Google Now” saves data that you type into your phone, including general search terms, localized searches, dates entered into your calendar, etc. to create a profile of your interests and habits.
“Google Now” subsequently acts as a help tool and, by referring to your profile, it sends the user information cards at the right time.
Network “H+” Display
Please note that after upgrading to Jellybean, the “4G” network icon will no longer be displayed. The Sony Xperia T will display “3G” when on Videotron’s network, and “H+” when downloading at HSPA+ speeds. This is normal, and in no way means that the Sony Xperia T can no longer connect to the 4G network. The phone will still be compatible with the 4G network and enable download speeds of up to 42.2 Mbps.
Technical note on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and Adobe Flash
Please note that, since version 4.1 of the Android operating system (Jelly Bean) was launched, the Adobe Flash app is no longer available on this version nor on subsequent ones. This means that, since August 15, 2012, you can no longer install the Flash app or update it if you have a phone with Android 4.1 and/or higher (this does not affect users who had already installed the app on their phone before that date). Android 4.1 does not display the Flash app in the Google Play Store (formerly known as Android Market) on devices that never featured Adobe Flash.
