This step takes about two minutes
1- When you start your BlackBerry® PlayBookTM tablet for the first time, you must configure it before it can be used. You’ll be guided through the different steps with a startup wizard.
To start, swipe the screen from right to left. Then connect to a Wi-Fi network. Note: A Wi-Fi connection is required to initialize your tablet.
2- The available Wi-Fi networks will be displayed on your tablet screen. Choose one and connect to it. If it is secured, enter your network username and password or the network authentication key.
Note: To complete the tablet startup, a Wi-Fi connection must be established in this step. When you’re done, swipe the screen from right to left to go to the next screen.
3- Select “Set Date and Time Automatically” (“ON” position) and swipe the screen from right to left to continue.
The next step is to create your BlackBerry ID account.
This step takes about four minutes.
1- Select your country from the dropdown menu, read the licensing terms and tap the “I Agree” button to confirm. Continue to the next screen.
2- Enter your BlackBerry® ID. If you don’t have a BlackBerry® ID, you must create one.You can do so by tapping “Create a BlackBerry ID” at the bottom of the page.
Enter your email address and password.Lastly, enter a brief security question so you can recover your password or ID in case you forget them.
3- Software update This step takes about 15 to 20 minutes
The system software must be updated before using the tablet.
We recommend you have the tablet plugged into a power source throughout the process.
The next step is to configure BlackBerry Bridge.
1- BlackBerry® Bridge lets you pair your tablet to another BlackBerry® mobile device. If you don’t need to, skip this step.
2- To configure BlackBerry Bridge, select
“Set Up BlackBerry Bridge.” Follow the instructions.
Note: You must have your BlackBerry® mobile phone close at hand. If not, skip this step and come back to it later.
3- Enter a name for your BlackBerry® PlayBookTM tablet, then tap “Next.”
4- Note: Before using BlackBerry Bridge with a BlackBerry® device, you must install it on your BlackBerry® smartphone. To do this, tap “Install Now.”
5- Open the BlackBerry AppWorld application on your BlackBerry® mobile phone (if AppWorld isn’t already installed, you can install it from the BlackBerry mobile homepage on the mobile browser).
6- Consult this screen if you want more information on using the BlackBerry® PlayBookTM tablet.
7- On the last screen, you can add the configurations you want. Tap “Done” to close the Wizard and start using the tablet.
8- The tablet is now configured and ready to install the QMI applications.
