Basic
For standard outputs on Scientific Atlanta 3250 and 4250 terminals, and on HD-PVR, the image on HD channels is converted into letterbox format (black bars added to top and bottom of the screen), regardless of the terminal’s configuration.
On Pace 550 and 551 terminals, the image on HD channels is converted into letterbox format in SD mode only. In HD mode, the image is transmitted without modification. On a standard television, it will be flattened horizontally (letterbox).
Component (YPbPr) connection:
Image mode depends on the terminal’s configuration.
The component connection requires three wires (red, blue and green) for image. For audio, two RCA cables must be added (red and white).
In most cases, you can find a dedicated audio input for the component input.
HDMI connection:
Image mode depends on the terminal’s configuration.
The HDMI cable transmits both image and audio through a single cable.
Even though audio is transmitted by the HDMI, an RCA audio input is often included.
