Subtitles are the text accompanying a program on the screen. They provide a shortened version of the actors’ dialogue, and important sound elements. Subtitles are intended for people with hearing difficulties.

 

How to display closed captions

  1. Press on the MENU button once (or twice, depending on how you configured the shortcut menu) to go to the main menu.
  2. Using the arrows, select "Settings".
  3. Using the arrows, select "Accessibility" and "Close Captioning".
  4. Using the arrows, select "Activate or Activate with Mute"and ¨
    press OK.

 

Note: You can disable the closed captioning function at anytime by selecting “Disable” in the menu.

How to customize your closed caption settings (the “Closed Captioning” function must be on)

  1. Using the arrows, select "Customize" in the "Closed Caption Style" menu.
  2. If you prefer, you can use the "Automatic" feature; this will activate the default closed caption settings.

 

Closed captioning style options

  •  The look of the closed captions will depend on the show’s producer.
  • Background: opaque, transparent, light
  • Standard captions: Std T1, Std T2, Std T3, Std T4, Std CC1, Std CC2, Std CC3, Std CC4 
  • Digital captions
    - Digital 1 is the chief source of closed captions.
    - Digital 2 is recommended if you want to choose the language.
    - Digital 3 to 6 are yet to be determined.
