SIM Cards

There are three different SIM card formats that work with Videotron phones:
Nano SIM, Micro SIM and SIM.
 
The SIM and Micro SIM cards now come together. All you have to do is choose the format that works with your phone and detach it from the card it comes on.
Make sure you choose the SIM card that works with your phone’s make and model.

If you aren’t sure which format of SIM card is right for your device, contact Technical Support before you break off the cards.

 

 

  1. Make sure this format of SIM card is compatible with your device.
  2. If the Micro-SIM card is the right size, break off the Micro-SIM card only.

How do I insert my SIM card?
I see the following message on my phone: “Insert SIM card.” What should I do?     

I see the following message on my phone: “Unregistered SIM.” What should I do?

 

 

1. Remove the back cover and the battery from your mobile phone. (Does not apply to all models. If you are unable to remove the battery or the back of the telephone, please refer to the User Guide that came with the device.)
2. Detach the SIM card, then insert it in its slot, making sure the gold contacts on the SIM card are aligned with those of the mobile phone.
3. Slide the battery back into place, making sure the gold contacts are aligned with those on the mobile phone.
4. Secure the mobile’s back cover in place.

This message could appear for many reasons, but most often because:

  • A SIM card has not been inserted in the device..
  • The SIM card was inserted on the wrong side; the gold contacts  on the SIM card were not aligned with those of the phone.
  • The phone did not recognize the card.
  • The card was not locked in correctly.

 

To correct the problem:

  • Make sure your SIM card is not scratched, wet or damaged.
  • Turn off your device.
  • Remove the phone battery.
  • Remove the card and then reinsert it. Many phones have a locking system that prevents the SIM card from moving around and ensures sufficient contact. If this is the case, check that the metal bar is blocking the card properly and preventing it from moving.
  • Reinsert the battery and turn the phone on.

If the message continues to appear, try putting the card into another Videotron 3G+ device or contact Technical Support at 1-866-380-2967

 

Your SIM card may not be activated in the Videotron system.

  • Wait a few minutes if you are asked to.
  • Remove the phone’s battery, then the SIM card.
  • Reinsert the card.
  • Make sure that the metal bar (if applicable) is blocking the card properly and preventing it from moving.
  • Reinsert the battery and turn the phone on.
