- FM radio
- Data Sense app to monitor and control your data use
Videotron customers with a Windows® Phone 8S by HTC can update their device’s operating
system free of charge. To get the update, wait for the update notification to appear on your phone's
screen, then download and install it.
Steps to follow
- The software will be sent over the air to your phone. No cable connection or PC is necessary.
- It is required to connect your phone to a WiFi network before downloading the update.
- Note that due to the progressive nature of the update, it is normal that some customers receive
the update before others. If you do not receive the update on the first try, be patient, you should be
receiving it in the next few days.
What new features are included in this update?
The data transfer allowance included with your mobile phone plan helps keep your phone
connected to the rest of the world when you're not connected to a Wi-Fi network, but you can
quickly use up this data allowance if you aren't careful. Data Sense helps you monitor your
data use by putting off certain tasks until you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network.
You can pin the Data Sense app to your home screen. The tile will automatically be updated
so you know how much data your phone has used. If you open the Data Sense app, you will
see a breakdown of which apps and features are using the most data.
To start monitoring your data use, all you need to do is set up a personal data limit on your phone.

The Windows Phone GDR2 update will add an FM radio to your HTC Windows® Phone 8S
by HTC. The FM radio is a conventional radio receiver, with has two advantages: it uses very
little battery and does not use up any of the data included in your mobile phone plan. Launch
the FM radio from the “Music+Videos/Radio” menu. Be sure to plug in stereo headphones,
as they will serve as an antenna.
The FM radio supports RDS (Radio Data System) and allows you to save your favourite stations.
Tuning is automatic: just swipe your finger across the screen to change station.
