I'M BEING BILLED FOR 1-900 AND 1-976 NUMBERS. WHAT ARE THEY?
1-900 and 1-976 numbers offer pay-per-call services whose cost is essentially determined by the service provider. These services are offered by third parties; Videotron acts only as the call carrier and collecting agent. The type of service offered varies: games, contests, government services, dating services, etc. Be careful, however, as these calls may become very costly. In all cases, the service provider must state the applicable charges at the beginning of the call.
1-900 numbers should not be confused with 1-800 numbers—the latter are free, whereas 1-900 and 1-976 numbers always incur a fee. Make sure that your children do not make calls to these numbers without your consent.
