Connecting a computer to my household wi-fi

Connect an Apple computer with Mac OSX 10.6, 10.8 and 10.9

STEP 1
internet_04_1aFirst, find the name of your wireless network (SSID), as well as your WPA key (your password).
This information can normally be found at the back of your router.
STEP 2
imageTo access your system preferences:
  • Click on the apple
  • Click on SYSTEM PREFERENCES
  • Click on the NETWORK icon
STEP 3
imageClick on the NAME OF THE NETWORK field to see the available networks.
  • Select your network (SSID) from the list
  • Check MEMORIZE
  • Click on CONNECT
Check that your network is still secure. Do not give away your WPA key.
NOTE: Your WPA key may alternatively be labelled PASSWORD. Your network may be labelled SSID.
STEP 4
imageEnter your WPA Key.
STEP 5
imageCheck the REMEMBER THIS NETWORK box to reconnect automatically.
Next, click on JOIN or CONNECT. Once the authentication has succeeded, your wireless connection should activate itself.
